Overview
Do you need to control the temperature of your cargo? Frotcom’s Temperature Sensor is the right choice for you.
You find out at the delivery point that temperature inside the refrigerated compartment was out of limits during part of the trip and you did not detect it on time. The customer checks the temperature curve registered by the thermograph in your semi-trailer and does not accept the goods. You are now with a truck load of rotten stuff.
Monitoring the temperature during transportation is an important requirement for many industries; in fact the temperature-monitoring system is now a standard specification item for temperature-controlled transport.
With Frotcom you could already track all the vehicles 24 hours a day. Now, with the Temperature Sensor you can also control the temperature of your vehicle’s cargo.
The sensor can be the perfect complement to the existing thermograph in your semi-trailer. It will sample the temperature and send that information to the Frotcom Data Center.
You will be able to set alarms and generate reports based on the information received from the temperature sensor, therefore being able to react in case of temperature going out of bounds.

Benefits
Here are some benefits of using Frotcom's
Temperature Sensor:
- Act immediately
You will receive immediate alerts when the temperature goes out of bounds;
- Increase quality of service offered to customers
Avoid goods being damaged by being submitted to a wrong temperature;
- Save money
By not having to replace rotten goods or indemnify your customers;
- Increase safety
Avoid delivering goods which may be hazardous to the consumer’s health.
How it works
The Temperature Sensor measures the temperature using a resistance thermometer. The internal resistance to electrical current of this sensor depends on its temperature. The higher the temperature, the higher the resistance and vice versa. This effect is then used by a coupled electronic circuit which converts changes in resistance in changes in output voltage. Finally, this difference is amplified resulting in a larger voltage interval (0.25V – 10V).
Once the sensor is wired to an input of the Frotcom GPS/GPRS device, the changes in voltage are detected and communicated to the Frotcom Data Center. Then, Frotcom will convert the voltage back to a temperature for that vehicle and check for alarm conditions.
