DarsGo System now operational for heavy vehicles in Slovenia

April 1 saw the implementation of a new free-flow electronic tolling system on Slovenian motorways and expressways, for heavy goods vehicles exceeding 3.5 tones. With the introduction of this new tolling system called DarsGo, it will no longer be possible to pay a toll at a toll station.

As Slovenia is one of the most transited countries in Europe, with 80% of trucks on the motorways being foreign, this new system will ensure better traffic flow and fairer tolling.
 

 
The DarsGo unit records the vehicle registration number and EURO emission class, and the driver only has to specify the toll class before each trip concerning the number of vehicle axles. The DarsGo system calculates tolls entirely based on the distance driven and amounts are charged automatically.

In real time, surveillance systems can detect and sanction non-users defrauding the Slovenian motorway and expressway networks. Fines will have to be paid, or offending vehicles can be clamped.
