How we use personal data

At Frotcom International, we collect, process, store, and use personal data necessary to comply with contracts and legal obligations arising from our business activities, as well as to send information about our products and to provide excellent service to our customers.

Data retention and sharing

Personal data is stored for as long as the relationship with Frotcom International lasts and for the legally required period. It may be transferred to entities when required by law or to the relevant Frotcom partners, with the data subject’s consent, where applicable.

Location Data (Driver App)

The Driver App collects precise location data (GPS) from the driver's device, including while the app is running in the background. This data is used to automatically detect vehicle movement so the driver's logbook status can switch between Driving, Available, and Rest, in compliance with applicable transport labor-time regulations, and to provide fleet tracking to the driver's employer.

Background location access is required because these status changes must be recorded continuously and accurately, even when the driver is not actively using the app, since drivers cannot safely interact with their phone while operating the vehicle.

Location data is transmitted to Frotcom's servers and shared with the driver's employer (fleet operator) for compliance, dispatch, and vehicle management purposes. It is retained for as long as the employment or service relationship lasts and for the legally required retention period under applicable transport and labor law.

Drivers can disable automatic tracking in the app; doing so may limit access to automatic logbook and dispatch features.

Information security

Personal data processing is carried out in accordance with appropriate practices designed to ensure information security, integrity, confidentiality, and availability.

Frotcom International employees are required to comply with high ethical, confidentiality, and secrecy standards, in accordance with the company’s values and rules, as described in the Quality Manual and Human Resources Policy.

Your data protection rights

We ensure compliance with the legislation in force on data protection and privacy and have configured our processes to provide efficient responses to requests to access and consult personal data, as well as to update, change, or receive data in a commonly used, structured format, where applicable.

You may request the deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, object to the automated processing of personal data for profiling purposes, and exercise your right to data portability, provided that the request complies with the applicable legislation.

Data subjects may lodge a complaint regarding the processing of their personal data with the Portuguese supervisory authority, the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD - Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).
