Provide operation traceability
When you receive a customer complaint or a speeding ticket, you really need to know exactly what happened during that past trip that led to that event. What you need is to trace the operation back to its very beginning. Here are the most common questions that you need to be able to answer for full traceability:
Who was the driver for a given trip?
It is common practice among transport companies - international road transportation, mainly - assign different drivers to different vehicles to maximize productivity and reduce costs. The first thing you need to know is: who is driving each vehicle? In cases where drivers are changed frequently, you will need some form of automatic electronic ID.
With Frotcom you have a choice of several methods to automatically identify a driver. The most common of these comes in the form of a small plastic unique ID tag - the iButton. Once the driver enters the truck, he holds up the identifier to a reader, and the driver’s unique ID number is automatically logged. This way you always know which driver was behind the wheel for a given route and time period.
Under what conditions was the service executed?
This question can be related to several different variables, of course. Imagine you received a speeding ticket of one of your vehicles; the first thing you want to know is if the vehicle was there, and then at what speed it was travelling.
And if a customer refuses to accept a palette of frozen food because of high humidity within the containers, which shows they were transported for some time at temperatures above the prescribed maximum, you’ll doubtless want to double check the temperatures registered during the trip since the palette left the refrigerated warehouse. Maybe the thermostat on the refrigerated trailer was malfunctioning?
